ABOUT MODERN OAK & FENIX KITCHEN

Introducing the Modern Oak & Fenix kitchen — a bespoke design by Wood Works Brighton, created for a light-filled side-extension in Brighton under a glass roof.

Aware that the space would be bathed in natural light, we chose to combine warm golden oak with contemporary Fenix cabinetry — a pairing that balances natural timber warmth with modern matte sophistication. The oak brings texture and organic appeal, while the Fenix lends depth, durability and a refined aesthetic.

The kitchen delivers on both style and practicality: clean lines, carefully considered materials and a layout designed to work in daily life. The result is a modern, refined bespoke kitchen where natural materials meet high-performance surfaces.

KITCHEN HIGHLIGHTS

  1. A refined two-material palette: golden oak + Fenix cabinetry for balance between warmth and modern minimalism.
  2. The use of Fenix fronts — ultra-matte, soft-touch and anti-fingerprint — ideal for a light-saturated space and everyday practicality.
  3. Quartz worktops — sleek, low-maintenance surfaces that emphasise cleanliness and durability, while complementing the wood and matte cabinetry beautifully.

KITCHEN DETAILS

  • Cabinetry & Fronts: Carcasses built from birch plywood (in line with our sustainable approach), topped with Fenix fronts — chosen for their scratch-resistance, water-repellent, anti-fingerprint properties and soft-matte texture, perfectly suited to a modern bespoke kitchen.
  • Oak Elements: Warm, golden oak used for structural or accent elements — introducing natural texture and contrast to the smooth matte cabinetry, and reinforcing the bespoke craftsmanship and quality material values.
  • Worktops: Durable quartz surfaces — a practical choice for longevity, ease of maintenance and a clean, contemporary finish that balances the oak and Fenix materials.
  • Design Philosophy: A tailored layout crafted to maximize light, materials and usability: combining modern materials with handcrafted cabinetry to deliver a bespoke kitchen that feels both contemporary and timeless, with sustainability in mind such as responsibly-sourced plywood carcasses and materials chosen for longevity.

WHY THIS MODERN OAK & FENIX KITCHEN EXEMPLIFIES BESPOKE & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

This kitchen underscores what bespoke design does best — marrying quality materials, refined aesthetics and practical durability. The use of Fenix (a durable, carbon-neutral, modern surface) alongside real oak reflects a careful balance between modern performance and natural warmth.

By designing and crafting the cabinetry from scratch, with thoughtful choices about materials and finishes, Wood Works Brighton ensures that this kitchen isn’t just stylish — it’s built to last, easy to maintain, and environmentally conscious. This makes it a standout example of a modern, bespoke kitchen that respects both form and function.
