About Mokolo
When Dino and Jen approached us with a clear design vision for their new bespoke kitchen, we knew we could bring their ideas to life with a handcrafted design that perfectly balances style and functionality. They wanted a kitchen that was both bold and practical—a true centrepiece for modern living.
At Woodworks Brighton, we designed and hand-crafted a striking kitchen with a strong focus on architectural detailing, natural materials, and traditional joinery. The heart of the space is a solid oak floating island, supported by raw metal RSJ steel legs. This island features hand-crafted box joint drawers—a celebration of time-honoured craftsmanship elevated with a modern, industrial edge.
The surrounding cabinetry is made from black Valchromat, finished with bespoke Forbostyle fronts for a refined and contemporary look. To maximise functionality, we incorporated a pair of double slide-and-hide pantry doors, offering generous and concealed storage while maintaining clean lines and uncluttered surfaces.
Topping the cabinetry is a dramatic black diamond Richlite worktop with an integrated sink—sustainable, durable, and beautifully understated. Every detail was carefully considered to reflect Dino and Jen’s unique style and way of living.
Alongside the handmade kitchen, we also designed and built a stylish bespoke peninsular that cleverly incorporates an awkwardly positioned post. This feature not only resolved a tricky structural detail but also creates a natural divide between the kitchen and a cosy seating, playing, and reading nook. To make the most of the space, we added custombuilt shelves, offering both storage and display opportunities, perfectly tailored to the family’s lifestyle.
The result is a bold, characterful kitchen that combines bespoke craftsmanship, natural textures, and everyday practicality—an outstanding example of a handcrafted kitchen in Brighton.
